Day 1

Welcome & Transfer
Welcome at airport,transfer to Laguna de Lagarto Lodge (standard room), birding en route with visit to Cinchona feeders (tanagers and hummingbirds and sometimes Blue-throated Toucanet)
Day 2
Date : September 22, 2021
Laguna de Lagarto Lodge
Birding at Laguna de Lagarto Lodge with access to exclusive photography platform at feeders
Access to King Vulture Hide (optional), the photography platform offers a private platform exclusive for the group with very good fruit feeders at eye level at about 4 meters away with a smooth background where Keel-billed Toucans, yellow-throated Toucans, Collared Aracari’s, Montezuma Oropendola, Brown-hooded Parrot and many more can be photographed.
Day 3 & 4

Arenal Volcano area
Arenal volcano area, Arenal Observatory Lodge, en-route visit to Bogarin feeders and trails which is a great place for Motmots, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Boat-billed Herons, sloths

Caño negro
To Caño negro, en route private boat tours on Medio Queso wetland, Natural Lodge Caño Negro, on the way to the lodge we can try some owling (good chances for Great Potoo, possible Black-and-white Owl, Striped Owl, Mottled Owl, Pacific Screech Owl)
Medio Queso wetland is a great place where hardly any tourist comes, the boat tour is very productive and excellent for photography with many waterbirds and some local specialities like Fork-tailed Flycatcher, Nicaraguan Grackle, Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture, Black-collared Hawk, Least Bittern
Day 6

Rio Frio
Private boat tour on Rio Frio for Kingfishers, herons, Sungrebe in the afternoon birding the gardens of the hotel and nearby wetland and pasturelands to see possible Spot-breasted Wren, Cinnamon Woodpecker, Ruddy-breasted Seedeater, Slaty Spinetail, Slaty-tailed Trogon, Red-lored Parrot
Day 7 & 8

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui
Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, Selva Verde Lodge, in the afternoon birding the trails and feeders of the lodge.
Next day private full-day tour at La Selva biological station, Selva Verde Lodge
Day 9
Date : September 29, 2021
Cope
Half-day visit to Cope and visit to Danta hummingbird garden, Selva Verde Lodge
Cope is a place you have not been to last time, it is a small garden of a local named “Cope” that he converted in a paradise for birders…there are very attractive feeders: fruitfeeders and sugarfeeders with some really good birds that are very easy to see and photograph, with possible White-tipped Sicklebill, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Chestnut-headed Oropendola,…plus Cope will take the group to a nearby rainforest where he has several day roosts of nocturnal birds…with chances for Spectacled Owl, and sometimes Crested Owl + a colony of very cute White Tent-making Bats.
Day 10 & 11

Highlands
To the highlands, Quetzal Paradise Lodge (standard room), birding the lodge entrance road and feeders.
Private guided tour in search of the quetzal and birding the nearby sites, including the paramo at the antenas road.
Day 12
Date : October 2, 2021
Drive to San Jose
drive to San José, en route passing by the town of Paraíso to look for Tropical Screech Owl in the park and Barn Owl behind the church, Hotel Aranjuez
